GOODIE OR BADDIE, WHICH ONE ARE YOU? STYLE LIFE Edited by LEIGH REINHOLD Take your Peak Cherry pies and "cawfee, good and hot" seem to be all FBI agent Cooper needs to keep his strength up in the search for Laura Palmer´s killer. And now fans of the series are loosening their belts and following his every munch by holding "Peakie" pigging-out parties every Tuesday and Saturday. First they stock up with the FBI sleuth´s favourite pies, doughnuts and coffee, then they wait for him to start eating. CRUNCH... whenever he tucks in so do they. SLURP ... they follow his every sip of coffee. The result is mass indigestion nationwide at the end of every episode.
Who killed Laura Palmer? Who cares - as long as you know whose side you´re on when it come to the Twin Peaks fashion craze. It´s goodies versus baddies as the "Peakie" look sweeps Britain with teenage fans of the cult series copying the style of their favourite characters. GOODIE girls are going for the flowing skirts, bobby socks and college cardigans of Laura´s friend Donna. BADDIES slip into the tight tartan skirts and fitted sweaters worn by the sexy, mysterious Audrey Horne who couldn´t stand the dead high school queen. As all the guys seem to be baddies, leather biker jackets and tight blue jeans are a must. Unless you want to be ultra-smooth Agent Cooper. Then it´s suits, ties and cherry pies for you. The show - directed by David Lynch - may have been given the thumbs down by older viewers. But it has already sparked a Fifites gear revival in the States and looks set to do the same for youngsters here. The most copied character is definitely Audrey, played by Sherilyn Fenn. "I think David really adores the Fifties - the simplictiy, the conservative attitude - and I think the show, though it has a timeless feeling, is kind of Fifites also," says Sherilyn. "The saddle shoes are part of that -Audrey knows that she can be daddy´s little girl in her little saddle shoes and ankle length skirt. "But when she gets to school, she hitches up her dress and puts on her red pumps, smokes cigarettes and sashays down the hall." Viewers in America have just found out who the killer is at the end of the second series. Was it Audrey? "Does it really matter who killed Laura Palmer?" she asks. "Not to me it doesn´t."
SPEAK CRED If you haven´t got the hang of "Peakspeak" yet why not try a few of these quotes for size? * I know I´m going to get lost in the woods again tonight. * Damn good coffee - and hot! * I´m holding in my hand a box of small chocolate bunnies. * If you do that again you´ll be scrubbing bidets in a Bulgarian convent. * This must be where pies go when they die. * Break the code, solve the crime. JULEE´S SO NORMAL It only takes a few finger clicks to start Audrey Horne (Sherilyn Fenn) moving seductively around the dance floor. Like millions of others, she is caught by the magic of Angelo Badalamenti´s melodies from Twin Peaks. Julee Cruise, 34, provides the haunting vocals for three of the 11 songs and her first single, Falling, is already climbing the Top 40 chart. "Everyone who has heard the music expects me to be very strange." she says. "They are always surprised how normal I really am." KILLER IN DRAG Producer David Lynch´s friend, Blue Velvet star Dennis Hopper, says we can all stop watching Twin Peak, because he KNOWS who dunit. "It was David Lynch," he says, "I´ve known for some time - he´ll probably appear in drag on the show any day now and confess."
